About Los Angeles Central Office

LACO is a non-profit organization, a 501(c)(3). We serve A.A. groups by doing the work individual groups don’t do. We distribute AA literature at the lowest possible cost, manage the LACO location enabled and Smartphone compatible meeting directory, and publish the printed LACO meeting directory. We endeavor to staff phone volunteers 24 hours a day.

LACO hosts Central Service Representative Zone Meetings, the Central Service Committee and Intergroup Meetings, and other meetings as scheduled.

Los Angeles Central Office has been here for AAs since 1943 because of your support. Contact us with any questions you may have regarding Alcoholics Anonymous. We are here for you, let us know how we can help you carry the message.

Volunteering at Central Office

Los Angeles Central Office always welcomes new AA members for answering phones at the office. We get calls every day and night from people trying to get sober, wanting to know where a meeting is, visitors to our area – and we need people to answer these calls!

Phone volunteers typically work a 4 hour shift twice a month. Are you interested in this important 12th step work? Please email you full name and phone number to: volunteer@lacoaa.org. We will contact you to schedule your orientation. Thanks for being of service!

The History of AA and Los Angeles Central Office

The Los Angeles Central Office of Alcoholics Anonymous opened on July 1st, 1944. We celebrated our 75th anniversary in July 2019!
